December Monthly Meeting

Happy New Year everyone!! :) I hope you are enjoying the first day of 2014 cozy under a quilt on this snowy day.

A couple of quick reminders:
  1. Our first sew-in of 2014 is January 12th from 1PM-5PM at the Perrysburg Public Library.
  2. Our first member meeting is January 16th at 6PM at Grounds for Thought in Bowling Green, OH.
  3. Be sure to bring a sewn/quilted name tag to January's meeting!
  4. Please bring cash for yearly dues of $25 (edited 1/1/14)
The guild met a few weeks ago for lunch and a fabric swap to close out 2013. And, of course some show and tells. We were also blessed to have Katie, our usual virtual guild member, attend this meeting :)

To start Katie showed off her patchwork purse as well as this monster of a quilt she recently finished!

If I remember correctly that is a beautiful KING size quilt! She also brought fabric coasters for each of us.

Her daughter Ashley brought her very special Heather Ross quilt to show. She had been saving and collecting pieces of fabric by Heather to put together a wonderfully bright "baby" quilt.

I like how Ashley kept the shape of the hexagon on the edges. She mentioned this is the first quilt she has sent out to be quilted. And I know she was very pleased with her completed quilt.

Mary Lee showed off her mini quilt she completed by using Victoria Findlay Wolfe's process of "15 Minutes of Play." She completed her quilt by adding a bit of hand quilting.

She also brought three pillow tops she finished using the same method. These will be sewn into large pillows for her grandchildren.

Cheryl rounded out the show and tell portion of the meeting with her mini improv quilt!

And the portion of the meeting we were all looking forward to was the fabric swap! We all went home pleased with our stash of 3 FQs per person won/stolen.

And I think we were all pleased to give away an "ugly" FQ in exchange for a different but new ugly FQ :)
