Happy 2013!

I don't know about you but the past week has been a whirlwind! And as usual the holidays have flown by at warp speed. It has been great to see that many members of the guild have taken some time to relax and sew during this busy month. What have we been up to you ask? Well...

Lucinda
In between wrapping presents and fabric shopping she purchased an Accuquilt and wasted no time delving into HSTs! By utilizing her design wall she was able to lay out play with the placement of the HSTs. I am partial to the itty bitty ones near the bottom! Don't they look great with the larger HSTs?!

In addition to sewing to her heart's content she popped off the cover plate on her machine to find a ... mountain of lint!

This is a good reminder for all of us to examine the insides of our machine and possibly do some vacuuming :)

Cheryl
Even though Cheryl recently joined the guild she already has quite a few modern quilt tops finished! Her first top features HSTs (we do love triangles!) and a gray background.

She is currently working on a quilt top with Kona Oyster as the background. I am smitten with using neutral colors for backgrounds other than white. There are some great options out there! Don't you love the blue with the oyster color?

And a recent finish is a bright and colorful quilt. You can find this pattern in the book "Modern Basics." And check out the swirly quilting!!

Jenn
Even though this quilt was technically finished a few months ago I just recently gave this quilt to its new owner. I made this for my friends who added a little boy to their family at the beginning of December. I couldn't be happier and love the vikings!

In addition I'm finishing up this purple quilt. In case you were wondering the front of the quilt is
foundation paper pieced - my current obsession!

Alice
While she may not have much time to make handmade items, the ones she shows us are beautifully done! Wanting to upgrade Levin's stocking from a plastic bag last year she set out to make patchwork stockings for her daughter and son. She even hand embroidered the names on their stockings!

As for fabric, well Alice always has a great selection. Here are a few of her latest additions:

  1. Sorry I am such a slacker - in getting my submissions in for the blog, not in doing stuff - too much stuff! I made a cute pillow out of a holiday sweater my children told me I couldn't wear anymore, and I got a start on my Madrona Road challenge - so excited! Really great photos, everyone!

  2. Great idea Michelle - making a pillow out of a sweater. Hope you will bring it to our next meeting so we can take a look. I have not started Madrona Road yet but I'm getting some ideas and it might involve my AccuQuilt.

  3. I've pulled out some books tonight to start becoming inspired for the challenge. I'd like to have mine done for the January deadline - not sure if it will happen though!
